Welcome to Addiction Recovery, a complete information source for anything you need to know about addiction recovery. Not too many years ago, drug addiction wasn’t very well understood—nor was it very easily treatable. Substance abuse centers did not have very many options for treatment. There simply wasn’t a great deal of information available on how to help drug addicts to conquer their drug addiction.
Nowadays, however, there are plenty of treatment options available and are substance abuse centers able to develop personalized treatments for each individual who joins the program. There are different programs for helping addicts of different drugs. The chances of a person successfully recovering from their addiction by attending a drug rehabilitation center are much greater than they were years ago.
Addiction recovery programs are most successful if the substance abuser truly wants to be involved. They generally do not work if they are forced upon an addict.
It is usually recommended that addicts remain in addiction recovery programs for at least four consecutive weeks—sometimes more, depending upon how long they were addicted to their drugs. This amount of time is what is needed in order to really treat the addiction—lesser amounts of time are not as likely to be successful.
