Drug rehab in California provides resources for many types addiction, including drug abuse as well as alcoholism. In addition to the wide array of drug treatment programs that focus in on certain addictions, there are drug treatment facilities that offer a wide array of treatment methods to help those recovering from drug abuse and alcoholism in California.
The first step in most drug treatment programs is the detox period. Far from the pained withdrawal associated with detox in most people’s minds, several drug treatment facilities offer methods to remove every trace of the drugs and their use from the users body. This helps to reduce not only the time of the detox period but the effect of it as well. In order to assist in the process of treatment several drug treatment facilities offer drugs that help addicts to ease themselves off of illicit drug use.
There are various levels of drug rehabilitation and alcohol rehabilitation offered throughout California. From the most casual to the most intensive what truly matters is that the services of the treatment center you choose meet the needs of the addict in question. While drug addiction is a wide spread problem the individuals it effects are unique and have unique needs on the road to addiction recovery.
Detox, the first stage of addiction recovery can be one of the most difficult. For addicts who feel that their drug use will leave them with a detox and withdrawal period that is simply unbearable, drug treatment centers in California offer drugs that can help ease the detox period. While they wont completely remove the difficulty of this first phase, they can greatly reduce the severity and duration of the withdrawal period.
Many addicts who’s use has left them with withdrawal fierce enough to require the assistance of drugs will do best in an in-patient treatment facility. As the lingering effects of drug use begin to release their hold on the addict they can start gaining the necessary tools for drug treatment by attending various types of counseling.
The one on one counseling offers the newly recovering addict an opportunity to share things that they may not be comfortable talking about in front of a group. It also gets them acclimated to the idea of counseling as a way to gain knowledge about addiction in general and specific knowledge about themselves.
Group counseling sessions offer the addict an opportunity to see the two paths that lay in front of them. The one path to complete recovery will be visible right in front of them through the various stages of success that their peers in the group have experienced. Also visible is the overall idea that this is an achievable goal. In these group sessions the addict hears and sees things that will help them make better choices when faced with a similar pitfall.
After getting comfortable managing the addicts own sobriety they can transition into an out-patient drug treatment facility that allows them to mix in some semblance of a sober lifestyle as a support for their on going recovery. While still offering the same type of counseling they had access to in the in-patient treatment facility. As the addicts support system grows strong enough they can opt for aftercare treatment programs.
